The Power Of The Pussy Bow

It's everywhere. Margaret Thatcher has died.

Now, I'm not a political person but I know she did some stuff. She was conservative and her cold, ruthless ways pissed people off... fair enough, but in death it's always good to look at the positives (okay, this may be a stretch for some) but lets all agree now.... the woman knew how to rock a pussy bow blouse.

The ultimate power dresser, Thatcher was the first to marry a practical and overwhelming sensible corporate wardrobe with the tiniest touch of femininity. Whether it be pearls, a handbag or a pussy bow embellishment on a blouse, she created a look that was all her own. It's interesting to think about the limitations, yet potential power that can come from what you wear in a corporate environment... participially for women.

If you know me, you know I'm a fan on a vintage blouse (in all it's synthetic glory), so hats off to the Iron Lady and her somewhat unconventional iron style-icon status....

Just popped the last one in because it's the most amazing image I have ever seen of her.... what are the chances she had a fun side???

The Grumps

This is not the name of a new Pixar movie!

It's the feeling you get on the Monday after a big weekend of excess. It's like friggen clock work.... it's the mash up of feeling tired, grumpy, dehydrated, hungry and apathetic all at once.

Alcohol .. you are an evil (yet brilliant) mistress...

Big Weekend Planned?

As you all know, D has been a little AWOL from MEAT due to planning her wedding and all (eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkk, so excited)...... and this weekend we are kicking off of the wedding madness with a kitchen tea... hang on, cross that... kitchen cocktail party. (in true D style... there will be NO tea involved!)

Let the mayhem begin.....

Biker Chic

The thought of actually having the freedom to get on a motorbike and just ride the day away makes me super happy. I have been on a bike a few times and it's a feeling of pure joy, exhilaration and is totally addictive. The reality is, I would be far to chicken to ever get a motor bike of my own so my only option is to at least try and look the part.

These images from Vogue Portugal are total biker chic! No crusty t-shirts (although, that can totally rock).. it's all leather, laces and some chunky jewellery and we all know that always does it for me...

Wasted Youth - Daniel Palillo

I like fun stuff... I especially like it when I see things that are all mushed together and come out the other side almost better than they went in.

Daniel Palillo fabulously oversize A/W 13-14 offerings makes me wish I went to some mental, raver high that embraced the loser as much as the jock. I have a total soft spot for Palillo's warped sense of nostalgia... the colour and the graphics make think that high school was not such a bad place after all.

Please note amongst the visual excess the Creepers in collaboration with underground shoes... they are total brill and possibly may need to be added to my collection!!
