Slimane movement

D, loving all things photographic Hedi Slimane's website has been bookmarked in my favs for as long as I can remember. You are sooooo right, his images are just so beautifully dark, personal and broody - they usually say far more about a subject than any written interview ever could.

I came across this video he made for The Corner. I just love how his images translate into movement.

Can't wait to see what he does at Yves Saint Laurent.

White Heat

If you have known me for any period of time (D, you can back me on this) you know I wear a LOT of black. Have done so for as long as I can remember. I can recall having arguments with mum back in primary school about wanting more black clothes... it was just something I was always attracted to and I have spent years wearing nothing else.

Ever since relocating to the London 6 years ago, I have become increasingly obsessed with colour. I just adore every single one and want to surround myself with them all. So much so that I will happily go out in neon brights without thinking twice but there is one still one thing I still have not done and that is... wear a full white outfit!

Eeeeeek, just the thought kinda scares me but this summer it will be my wardrobe challenge. The only trouble is how am I going to play it?

Chola Style'e

Here is a bit of Westside for ya - with the Cholas of East LA. The look originated in the LA gang culture and today the uniform is typically khakis and a white vest (hot.)... BUT... back in the day these ladies rocked a serious hair-do teased to the max (dubbed the 'Scare-do') dark lipstick and pencil thin eyebrows. This is a total 'don't mess with me' attitude... in true 80's LA fashion.
